Tomorrow my sisters and their husbands are bringing lunch here to celebrate. We like those Kneader's sandwiches that have turkey and cranberries and avacados in them. Yummy! I just wish I was feeling better. The cold I had last week went to my chest and just sits there and hurts. It feels like Walking Pneumonia I had years ago. Elissa is here taking good care of me. They moved in last week until their house goes through. They bought one in Sar. Springs. 4 BR. New!
As for the story: Our family went to Yellowstone in the 60's and camped out. Some of the family were in the tent with Owen and I stayed in the Station Wg. I had two or three kids in there with me. I think that Shauna was on the front seat and Andrea and one other were in the back with me. I was awakened by the car shaking, opened my eyes and looked right into the face and claws of a big bear trying to open the window which was ajar about an inch ( back window of the Chev.) Then I realized that there was another bear on top of the car which is why it was shaking! I screamed and yelled and lunged for the front seat and reached for the horn which I madly honked. The bears hurried away at the noise and the family woke up ( and everyone else in the park-- so I would think!)The one bear was after our food cooler on top but didnt get to it, and who knows what the other one looking at me was after? It was hard getting back to sleep after that!
The next morning we packed up to leave. I wanted out of the place-- now!! We drove over to see Old Faithful and I stayed in the car with baby Andrea,, but when the kids got out they left the tail gate down. Wouldn't you know it, a young bear came along and tried to get in the Sta Wg via the tailgate. I yelled to the others outside and they threw some gravel at the bear who was being watched by his mother and they sauntered off. We left! That is when we wound up at Macks Inn and had a great time there with no bears are out tonight! Love, Grandma
ps your dad knows the story well.
